Why are Toyota IFS rear axles so popular

Is it the gears? Are the shafts stronger?

^x2. Primarily because its 3" wider and when you do a yota front you have to use 1.5" spacers to clear 33s and that makes the ifs rear axle the same width as a front with 1.5" spacers

When you do a link set up with a IFS rear, you can move your lower link mounts out farther on the axle end which will lead to better stability, same with the shock mounts. Other plus side is the mini truck diffs will still fit the IFS housing.

The women folks britches melt right off in the presence of the IFS axle. One of natures many miracles.

No more to add, pretty much all mentioned above. Most of the time guys want them for the WMS width. Third member, splines, axle diameter, etc. are all the same.

Agreed, only reason I got my wife was my ifs rear axle. I wrapped it up and gave it to her when I proposed and then after we got married I took it back and put it in my samurai

the tubes are also larger diameter, so they are stronger
