Dear Newbie (1)

Dear Newbie,
Welcome to the site. Feel a little lost? We've all been where you're at. There's a lot of Suzuki related information to try and absorb. This Dear Newbie series is here to help you navigate through a little easier.

Keep in mind, your idea or question has probably been brought up before. Utilize the search function to research the topic. Sometimes google will perform a better search, both generically for a specific site. To specify a particular site, here's the syntax: [insert search here] then add at the end [site:disney.com]. If you still have more questions after reading the existing topics, then add your content to the pre-existing threads. This will maintain the quality of the threads by keeping all the good information contained (and thus improving the search function even more). If no topic exists, then start your own thread. Include as much information as you can think of.

We can always tell newbie questions, 'cause they'll look something like this: What's the best [insert something here]. There's almost never a generic best answer. The answer will depend on your skill set, expectations, budget, driving style, type of wheeling you plan on doing, access to tools, daily driver or Trailer queen (get the idea?). When asking questions, share this information with us, because most things are calculated compromises. For example: All Terrain, or Mud Terrain tires will greatly improve your vehicles off-road capability. But, the better they are for off-road, the worse they are for on-road. A softer compound & aggressive tread grips better in rock or mud, but won't last as long on the street, will make a lot of tire noise & may even have less traction than a passenger tire on the street! All Terrains perform better in some sand, or icy situations than Mud Terrain etc.

Future Dear Newbie segments will cover some of the Frequently (sometimes daily) Asked Questions:
Lockers: the best, but most overlooked upgrade
Samurai vs Tracker: The things you should know before buying
Cheap upgrades, tips & tricks
Why tires dictate practically everything
Safety issues you need to consider
SPOA: The hidden costs
What's my [insert vehicle here] worth? And variants like, 'is this a good deal?'
What's the best lift?
How do I get more power?
What's the best tire
How can I turbo my...

I'm open to other topics, ask away.

This is a good ideal here and well put. We are not in the flaming business and I dont think these are set out to flame the new guy.

I wish there were some articles like this when I started out. Heck, i will probably still learn something here.

LOL

It's not a flame at all. I know I asked a lot of "dumb" questions, and still do. I'm just hoping to help the new guys out. In future articles, I'll be including what links and knowledge I have on the subject, and hoping other peeps can share their knowledge too... and hopefully make this a true "FAQ" section we can point people to. I invariably learn new things - even on "old" topics, so this should be fun. Keep the FAQ ideas coming. I'm thinking of making this like an "FAQ of the week" topic that everyone can add to... your thoughts?

This might be a good time to cover board etiquette...

Things are a little more "loose" on zukikrawlers. It's basically like Pirate 4x4, but without the noob flaming. Thicker skin = good, flame suit not needed.. As an example, this: is a friendly gesture. It's often used like "LOL", or as a replacement for: . If puppy dogs, and chastity belts are more your thing, there's other boards that may suit you better. If you can hang with a little joking and friendly hazing from time to time, this is the place for you

Remember the same old questions are new question for the person asking them. When I came to this board I did a lot of read in the tech. section. that answered A lot of the questions that I hadn't even thought of yet.
