Soft top installation

I figured this was as good a place as any to put this. This has bothered me ever since I got my first Sami. Is there an easy way to insert the soft top into the channel behind the doors without damaging the soft top material or paint? I've used a plastic putty knife before but even that still tends to damage the soft top material. Is there an easier way or is that just the nature of the beast and I just need to be more careful?

Samurai soft-top installation...

It's been a while, but I recall simply sliding the sewn-in rope edge of the top down the channel from the top on each side of the back edge of the targa.

This is done after the top has been fastened to the top of the windshield and before any attempt at setting up the support hoop or snapping any edge snaps into place on the back side of the truck.

I hope that this helps!

What Ack said. Get the front in the channel and then slide the targa strips into the channels and then start fastening the top. After that point it depends on which top you have, the pos bestops fasten a little different than the stock top does.
