Suzuki Samruai Insurance values

Has anyone had their Suzuki Samurai or Sidekick appraised for insurance and how did you do this ? Did they laugh?

I have if you haven't noticed a clean 1995 Samurai, and would never accept a blue book value for thing if it was ever damaged by a idiot on the road.

I've seen some Samurai's go 8K based condition/year/modifications. (ebay). Others are only worth a few dollars. so the range is wide, my last 1987 Samurai sold for 5K, I'm guessing blue book on it was only 1.5K at the time.

So when my insurance company says normal insurance is for blue book, I am saying I need more than that, and they said get an appraisal. How do you show a non-suzuki person it's market value for appraisal ?

there are insurance companies that wil sell you a policy based on the modified condition of your vehicle. These policies are sold to antique restorers or custom car builders.

I have a friend who has an '88 Turbo T-bird with this kind of "comprehensive"-style insurance.

Advantage: it is pretty cheap.

Disadvantage: there are restrictions on yearly mileage and covered storage requirements - stuff like that.

You can find these companies listed in car magazines.

I hope that this helps!

I have Farmers and they laughed at me when I told them I wanted $6000 replacement value. He suggested that I only have liability on it.
I have full coverage on my RV and I owe more than Blue and they wouldn't do replacement on it either or even pay off.

x2. Progressive said "no way" on giving me full coverage and ive only been running liablity. Though i will tell you to keep every receipt you have of the work thats been done to your zuk or parts you bought. I had a guy run a red light and t-bone me at the beginning of the month. it broke my rear leaf spring, bent my wheel and ruined my tire, broke my rear bumper off, and bent some other suspension stuff but never bent the frame or touched the body (my LR tire took the full brunt of the impact). His insurance tried to total my zuk out and only give me KBB on it, 2500 bucks. I laughed and told them hell no, your gunna give me what all the aftermarket parts are worth on it too. After handing them a full page of whats been done to it with prices and stating i have every receipt for each part done and labor involved (which i do), they are now no longer totaling my zuk out and told me to take to a shop to be worked on. I know its not really pertaining to if you hit someone and totaled your zuk out but its a little info incase someone hits you.

Same as above, I think I'll get 1k value (With 1k deductable!) for my sammy if I wreck it. Easily have 10k in it.
My plan if wrecked is to buy it back. If stolen I plan to cry and get drunk.

I hit a deer about a month ago which wasnt too bad since it was only the grill and radiator but insurance for the full coverage I had on it only gave me a value of 2145 or so even with the extra stuff I had and the proof of prices of everything. they ended up pricing it by comparing to others in the local market and I bought it back for $250 and got a check for $1845 and bought some stuff I wanted for it and a sidekick.

haha. it was pretty nice to be able to buy a sidekick with the check but now I need to sell my samurai so I can rebuild the motor and build up the sidekick or trade both for a built one.
