96 sidekick

Just bought another sidekick got to pick it up tommorrow....Here is the add : " 1996 Suzuki Sidekick 4x4. runs great, but believed to need tcc solenoid in transmission. doesnt have 3rd or od. 1400 or trade for car, truck, jeep, etc. plan of fixing as soon as weather clears, price will go up ! showing 140k, but motor been gone through & is in tip top shape, many new parts "

Nice looking kick inside and out....What do You guys think about the tranny statement ? Where do I start in repairing it ? Fluid looks good...not burnt.
Thanks in advance for any help or ideas
Chuck

Call William or Mike at Hawk Suzuki Parts Monday if you don't get an answer here by then. They would know exactly whats wrong with it.

96 is a good year for them.

I wouldn't think a bad TCC solenoid would keep it from shifting into 3rd or 4th (OD).
I doubt a filter or fluid change would fix it either.
The 4 speed shifting is electronically controlled. I believe there are some solenoids or switches that control the shifting, so I would look into those as being the problem.

I smoked 3rd and 4th in mine. Fluid didn't smell cooked either. Mine would free spin. If it's not going into those gears it's something eles. I had mine rebuilt for $700.00 with a new TC. That was the cheapest I could find.
