That gives me a warm fuzzy for my first ever true off road wheeling of my junk. Florida is flat with a small bit of sand and certainly no test of my build. I suspect my off road Holley truck avenger carb will be put to the test on those steep climbs. I also know right now that I need to put an antiwrap bar on my rear end since it is leaf sprung. Any wheel hop on those ledges looks like it results in a rollover for sure. I also am running an open front dif so that won't help. I need to pull apart my transfer case and rebuild it too, chain driven POS is slipping.

So...I just watched a bunch of videos on youtube of chokecherry canyon and I'll admit that I am a bit skeered if the "trails" I watched wheeled are the ones we'll take. Lot's of rollovers, etc... Should be fun. Already making a list of spare parts I need to gather,

Been reading up on Chokecherry Canyon. Can't find anywhere about camping or permits on the BLM lands. Where we staying?

I did find this though. http://nmohva.org/main/issues.php?id=64&archive=0 . Time to fight for OHV use of BLM lands.

We have never had a permit and we talk to the BLM almost ever time we go out. They told me that if you keep a tidy camp they won't mess with us, if you are up there to get drunk and trash the place you will have problems with them. If you are up there to wheel and keep it clean, then they say have at it and have a good time.
We have a camp spot right by the comp. area (brown springs)......

Well, I broke the Zuk this weekend. Until I can straighten out the rear axle I'm afraid I'm out.
I'm disappointed but that's the way it goes.

A new rear housing, maybe a new rear locker and a front shaft. I have everything but the 5.12 gears and I can weld the spider gears. It's having time to do it that is a problem.

I really hate to be missing this trip, between the drought, feeding cattle, playing fire chief until the real fire chief gets through chemo, just too many bumps to get over or around. I was looking forward to getting to know more of you and getting to know more about the folks that I already know. I hope the weather is great, the crowds are few and the good times are many.
